Type 1 Diabetes NOW

One day, one of my young patients with type 1 diabetes brought me a question. He has been perfectly controlling his own glucose with adjusting his insulin injection units, and has had everything about Diabetes-related knowledge. That's why he also has played an OB role during the summer camp every year.

The question was as follows; "Why do I get polyuria when I have Hyperglycemia?" I was very surprised at this question, because I believe that he already has known the answer against this question. However, he said that he had not learned about it. I immediately checked through the books for patients, but there really were no writings about this.

Is it unnecessary for the patients to understand both principle and theory of diabetes pathogenesis? I DO NOT think so. They will be motivated to self-control of own diabetes by understanding both principle and theory of pathogenesis in diabetes, which help them to think out why a symptom or sign, for example, polyuria, happens in their bodies. Knowledge such as both principle and theory of pathogenesis in diabetes obtains us a challenging spirit to self-care of own diabetes.

To know about the theory in Diabetes blood glucose control is not a difficult fact for you. Once you understand the principle and theory, even small kid can take control with the parents' help.

I wrote this book down with easy understanding points and cues to insulin treatment including the principle and theory.

Please make use of this book and the PDF file, which I introduced before. You can use this for summer camp workshops, for self-learning of schoolteachers and school nurses. Understanding Diabetes correctly is as well understanding your student's diabetes correctly. Whether what kind of disease it is, patients think about understanding the disease properly. This is the common thought of patients.

Is patients are special persons to develop some diseases? NO! Everybody can develop type 2 Diabetes, for example, any time by now. Let us all understand diabetes properly.

高血糖になると多尿になるのはなぜ？

　1型糖尿病の血糖コントロールの上手な若者がいました。なんでも知っているし、毎年のキャンプOBでもあるし、インスリンの調整も自由にできるかたでした。ある日の外来で、「先生、どうして高血糖になると多尿になるんですか？」、そんなことはとっくに習っているだろうと思ったのですが、習っていないとのこと。すぐ患者さん向けの本を調べてみました。ないのです。
