• ステファン君自身は10歳と言っているようですが、病院側での推定年齢は12歳です。
• 1日2回（朝食前12単位、夕食前10単位：使用インスリン 混合型（Mixtard））インスリンを注射しています。
• ケトアシドーシスで昏睡になり、近所の私立病院へ搬送されましたが、病院側が、ステ ファン君の家族が治療費を支払うことができないと判断し、2011年10月27日に公的医療機関であるケニヤッタ・ナショナル・ホスピタルへ搬送されました。それ以来、2012年5月現在まで、同病院へ入院しています。

就学状況
　ステファン君の母親が彼の出生届を提出していないために、彼は学校へ通うことが出来ません。本人は通学を希望していますが、出生証明がないことにより入学資格がありません。
以前、幼稚園へ通っていたと本人は語っていますが、確かではありません。
学校へ通っていないために、読み書きができず、会話もスワヒリ語のみで、英語を話すことが出来ません*。
*ケニアでは英会話が必須であるため、英語が話せないと、将来、就職が困難になります。

家族状況

• ステファン君の母親はシングルマザーで、父親の存在は不明です。母親は彼が3歳の時に逝去しました。
• 母親の死後、叔父が彼を養うために引き取りましたが、叔父の妻が自分たちの子供ばかりを可愛がり彼を厄介者扱いたため、ステファン君は学校へ通うことができませんでした。そのような環境の中で育ったせいか鬱病状態となり、糖尿病の療養と併せて、心理療法が必要です。
• 現在、病院側が叔父と連絡が取れず、叔父夫妻が彼の養育を放棄したと思われます。また、彼らは糖尿病であるステファン君を養うことができない。と病院側に話しているようです。
• 病院のソーシャルワーカー達が、彼を受け入れてくれる“子供の家（孤児院）”を探していますが、未だに見つかりません。なぜなら、彼の糖尿病の治療費や食事療法、低血糖といったことについて、責任を負うことができないと言っているからです。

その他
　白雪姫様からのご支援のお蔭で、糖尿病治療費の負担がなくなり、彼を受け入れる“子供の家”が見つかる可能性が出てきました。あとは、食事療法や低血糖の管理といった、日常の糖尿病治療について理解を求めなければなりません。退院し、学校へ行き、友達を作る機会を得られる可能性が出てきたことは、彼にとって大きな希望となります。

• He takes 2 insulin 2times daily(Before breakfast 12units, before supper 10units. Both are mixtard.)
• He has been diagnosed T1 diabetes June 2011.
• He was in coma because of ketoasidosis and was taken to Nogong clinic. He was carried to KNH because his uncle couldn’t afford to pay the bill.
• He has been in hospital since then, Oct.27th 2011; for more than 7months.
• Now he can take insulin shot by himself.
• Stephen is doing well.

Educational Details

• He has not taken admission to school.
• He has not been to school except kinder garden.However, it is not sure because it is just his telling.
• He wants to go to school, if he can do so.
• Unfortunately his situation hasn’t allowed him to do so.
• Therefore he cannot understand English, can understand only Swahili. He can neither read nor write.

Family Details

• His mother died when he was 3years old.
• She didn’t register him at public office.
• She was single.
• His uncle looked after him but the wife of his uncle didn’t like him.
• Therefore he couldn’t go to school.
• Due to such a situation, he has depressetion and needs psychotherapy.
• Hospital staffs cannot get in touch with his uncle, in other words his uncle abandoned him. His uncle and his wife told the staffs that they couldn’t have responsibility to take diabetes care for him.
• Hospital social workers have been looking for Children’s Home to accept him, but they cannot find it yet because Home’s staffs cannot take responsibility to take diabetes care for him and financial burden to take diabetes care for him.

Thanks to the sponsorship, there is possibility to find the Children’s Home which accepts him because there’s no diabetes cost burden for him only taking diabetes routine care such as diet and hypo event.
It is really positive thing for him because this is the chance enable him to leave hospital , go to school and make friends.
